Trinity United Methodist Church is a beautiful church of Gothic architecture located on the corner of Marvin and Broad Streets. Trinity’s members have been worshiping in this location since June 1954. The church building consists of two units, the Church proper and the educational unit. The nave seats about two hundred and fifty worshipers and the chancel, which is divided, seats thirty choir members. As worshipers enter the sanctuary, they appreciate the exquisite stained glass windows which depict the life of Christ, and the magnificent music delivered from the Casavant pipe organ, built in Quebec for the church and installed in 1964. Many Trinity members hand-stitched the beautiful needlepoint kneeling cushions in front of the chancel rail.
In September 1980, the members planned to add a multi-purpose building. The activity building was dedicated in 1985 and has hosted vacation bible schools, family night suppers, and many other church and community events. Church offices are located in the activity building.
Prior to the current site, Trinity Methodist Church was located at the corner of East Broad and Lower Street. Although accurate church records prior to 1836 are missing, the first authentic record of Trinity United Methodist Church dates back to December 10, 1836. In 1943 the members began to plan construction of a new house of worship at the current location. The “Old Trinity” building has historical status, and hosts special events during Christmas and Easter celebrations.
